Assessors Award Level 3 VTCT (Previously A1 Assessors Award)
Affable Therapy Training Assessors course is ideal if you are looking to start assessing. Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (QCF) is a theoretical qualification intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of assessment without any requirement to practice as assessors.
The qualification is suited to vocational / practical courses.
Most teaching places require you to have a basic teaching plus assessor qualification in order to be able to teach NVQ or QCF courses.
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment Award Level 3 VTCT
This course aims to to develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of assessment.
You will complete the Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment Award Level 3 VTCT course. The theory will be delivered in a one day workshop, followed by home study and portfolio development and two competent observations of the learner assessing in workplace Learners have one year from the date of enrolment to finish the qualification. However we know from experience that learners usually finish it in 3 to 6 months.

We also understand that learners learn differently therefore course material is delivered in various ways, e.g. PowerPoint presentation, group work, detailed course manual with diagrams, other activities to keep learners engaged throughout the day. Lessons are carefully planned around learner needs making our courses very effective.
The course is accredited with Vocational and Charitable Trust (VTCT) and is mapped on the national qualification framework.
- Learners need to have a good understanding of written and spoken English
- To have access to computer and internet
- Enthusiasm to learn and practice massage
- Devote 5-6hrs per week to home study studies while on the course
- Need to have at least level 3 in their chosen specialism
- Need to have been teaching so that practical observations can be carried out at place of work while the learner is assessing. (If you don’t have opportunities to assess, we may be able facilitate this with additional fees please enquire at the time of booking)

PTLLS provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for those who
are new to or wish to start teaching or training and experienced practitioners who would like to secure professionally recognised teaching/training qualifications.
One of the main benefits of completing this award is that it provides a ‘threshold license to practice’, a requirement by current legislation for all those teaching/training within the Learning and Skills Sector*. This award will enable you to work in a teaching function and progress on to a broader teaching qualification.
Affable Therapy Training Limited’s Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QCF) is a vocationally recognised qualification focused towards those pursuing a teaching career in further education.
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector or PTLLS as it has become more
commonly known, is available at Level 3 and Level 4. This award is designed to equip a wide range of teachers, trainers and facilitators with the relevant underpinning skills and knowledge to enable them to practice effectively.
This award has and continues to be a mandatory requirement for any new teacher/trainer who teaches on publicly funded provision and must be completed within the first 12 months of employment.
You will complete the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Award Level 3 VTCT course with us in 6 weeks . So one day a week in class x 6 weeks plus home study and portfolio development.
The course aims:
- to develop your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher in lifelong learning and the relationship between different professionals in lifelong learning. You will also learn about taking responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for learners.
to enable you to understand teaching
and learning strategies and approaches in lifelong learning, and how to use these to meet the needs of learners. You will also learn how to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners. - to enable you to plan and deliver an inclusive learning and teaching session. It requires the delivery of a microteaching session, and evaluation of own and peer delivery practice.
- to enable you to facilitate learning and development for individuals. You could be in a coaching or mentoring role. You are required to understand the use of a variety of methods.
- to understand group dynamics and how to facilitate learning and development
in groups. You are required to understand the use of a variety of methods, for example presentation, instruction, demonstration, small group activities, skills practice and feedback, e-learning, blended learning, role plays and experiential learning. - to develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of
assessment. - to develop your understanding in accordance with regulations permitting the qualification of teachers at Level 3, including the different types and methods of assessment used in lifelong learning, ways to involve learners in the assessment process, and the requirement to keep assessment records.
